Shipping Classes
Shipping classes categorize your products and allow you to calculate product-dependent shipping costs (e.g. bulky goods surcharges).
Assigning Shipping Classes
- Open a product in your Shopify admin.
- Scroll to the metafields and find the field
forsellers.shipping_class. - Enter the exact class name you defined in the app (e.g. "Bulky Goods"). (Note: Shipping classes are stored technically as a product metafield definition).
Use in Rules
When a shipping rule has shipping classes configured, every single product in the cart must have a matching class for the rule to be applied. If even one product has no matching class or no class assigned at all, the rule fails.
For each class in a rule, you can define surcharges:
- Fixed Surcharge: A per-item flat fee (multiplied by the quantity of items in that class).
- Percentage Surcharge: A percentage applied to the cart total.
